3. Power LED diodes

Power diodes LEDs (Power LESs) is intended to replace traditional incandescent and enter into direct competition with the fluorescent lamp. Their characteristics make them suitable for general lighting and perfect for environments where the design and color skills are relevant. Noted for its low power consumption and high energy performance which together with its long working life make them ideal for lighting in commercial and home environments. The LED diodes manufacturers specify in their life's work features 50000 to 100000 hours, but this can be extended if the device (Power LED) is operated in optimal conditions. The working temperature of LED diode is paramount, as in any semiconductor proper heat dissipation will cause the LED pn junction diode does not reach excessive temperatures. A steady stream feeding right not to overstep the limits of power dissipation. It is advisable to work under the specifications given by the manufacturer with an intensity of Led 80-90% of its rated current is not reduced by excess light intensity and gives prolonged life Led considerably.

In the following, we analyze the performance of a power LED 10W LED with 650 lumens of light radiation.

3.1.1. Led Diode Characteristic

The LED diode characteristic curve represents the relationship between the voltage drop across the anode and cathode terminals and current flowing through the anode.

The real curve diode 10w led power can be seen in the figure below. It is apparent that the characteristics specified by a manufacturer that can be seen in the previous section do not match the actual LED. The response of the LED shown in the figure is the result of measuring the voltage across the LED (anode-cathode) as a function of anode current, powering the LED with a constant current from 10mA maximum current to direct work. It can be seen that the maximum current of 900mA work falling on the diode forward voltage of 9.33 V led is very distant from that indicated by the manufacturer, 12V.
